LEGO Mythica One Last Look Before Open Day

Wednesday 5th May 2021
Lego Mythica is due to premiere in 24 Days at Legoland Windsor Resort. Opening 29th May 2021, Lego Mythica is the biggest investment at the park to date with the addition of the UK's first flying theatre and new 2 junior drop towers.

Since our last visit to the park, there have been reports of the drop towers testing and it appears that all of the Lego Models for the area have now been installed. Located near the entrance archway into the area from Heartlake City a large part Lion, Eagle and other animals model has been placed on a rock as a mini centrepiece to the area. With all construction vehicles gone for the day, we can see more of the area and some of the models around it. It also appears that some sections of outdoor queue lines have some covers above them to provide some much-needed shade in the hot summer months.

The theming around Lego Mythica is very different to anything ever seen at Legoland parks before. The exposed brick elements on the buildings everything looks very cool and it makes you think that everything is made from Lego! With the hotels path partly open we also get our first look at the new entrance for Hyrda's Challenge the retheme to squid surfer.

New signage has also appeared in some sections of the park showing Lego Mythica as a nearby area. Around the park, lots of posters can be seen advertising the new area as opening May 29th.

Legoland Windsor Resort Unveils Exclusive First Look Inside Lego Mythica World Of Mythical Creatures

Wednesday 28th April 2021
LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort has released a first look inside its new multi-million-pound attraction, LEGO® MTYHICA: World of Mythical Creatures.

For the first time ever, LEGOLAND Windsor showcases some of the awesome attractions, experiences and LEGO® models guests will see when LEGO MYTHICA opens to the public on 29 May this year.

Following on from the announcement that LEGO MYTHICA will be home to the UK’s first ever flying theatre ride – Flight of The Sky Lion, guests can now see first-hand the epic scale of the lead attraction which stands at over 25 metres tall!

As well as its magnificent exterior, guests can also now see a glimpse inside this UK first, as the Resort’s team experience the new ride themselves and carry out the final tests before opening. The Flight of the Sky Lion is a 4D experience, exciting the senses with wind, mist and even smell that has been synchronised with the animated film to fully immerse families in the world of LEGO MYTHICA.

Along with the behind the scenes look at the ride, the Resort has released a teaser of the animated film that will transport guests into the world of LEGO MYTHICA when they board. They will swoop, duck and dive over the incredible landscape and come face to face with the realm’s many characters including the Hydra and the Alicorns.

Joining The Flight of The Sky Lion at LEGO MYTHICA will be an array of other attractions that will be sure to capture the imagination of both adults and children alike. Unveiled for the first time today is the Fire and Ice Freefall, standing at 13 metres tall (the equivalent of 325 LEGO Minifigures) this drop ride is defended by another one of LEGO MYTHICA’s guardians Crystal Flame.

With the weather warming up, guests will be thrilled at the reveal of Hydra’s Challenge, an exhilarating water ride that is also protected by one of LEGO MYTHICA’s guardians Duo. Aspiring explorers will need to prepare to get wet on Hydra’s Challenge as they steer their own vessel on this thrilling water attraction.

The first look reveal includes the magical portal and entrance to the parallel universe of LEGO MYTHICA where - having already proved their bravery - the Resort’s Model Makers have crossed over and been hard at work applying finishing touches to the LEGO MYTHICA models. Guests will see detailed and vibrant LEGO models such as the Greek Mythology inspired Chimera, Troll and The Hydra.

Helen Bull, Divisional Director at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort said: “We’re thrilled to give our guests a first look at LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures and showcase some of the attractions, experiences and models that will be unveiled when we open in May.

“We worked in partnership with Kids Industries and spent a year discussing and testing ideas and concepts with seven to 11-year olds and their parents who influenced everything from the final ride experiences, names and characters. It’s amazing to see the journey from that point to now and we’re confident LEGOLAND fans will love LEGO MYTHICA.”

Also set to feature in the new land will be the Creature Creation where guests can build their very own LEGO MYTHICA creatures; an adventure play area called Lava Dragon Play; a character meet and greet experience, Creature Encounter and The Hungry Troll restaurant and Beastly Bites snack bar.

LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures is currently under construction and will be found between Heartlake City and the Resort’s LEGO-themed Hotels. As the UK plans for a booming summer of staycations, this new addition to the hugely popular Resort, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, will be a huge hit with parents and kids alike as they enjoy more freedom and fun following a difficult period of lockdown for families across the UK.

New For 2021 Legoland Windsor Lego Mythica Construction Update

Wednesday 14th April 2021
Legoland Windsor Resort is set to debut LEGO Mythica, in 45 days. Subject to government guidelines of lockdown lifting, it should open on the 29th of May and work around the construction site has progressed rapidly since the last time the park was open to guests.

With the pathway to the hotels closed, since nothing is open that way, views of the new area remain limited. However, from Heartlake City you can see 90% of the new area and we got our first glimpse of some of the theming and lego models! In the artwork for the new area, the entrance portal looks huge and beautifully themed and in real life, it looks the same if not better!

The two new drop towers have been installed, with LCDs on the top of the towers, which we expect will show graphics of ice and fire. The entrance signage for the ride Ice and Fire can also be seen through the trees in the distance. Peering through the peepholes on the advertising board, we can also see a few of the LEGO models located around the new area. The retheme of the old fish and chips restaurant is now visible, the restaurant has been covered in grey and blue paint with blue lines and exposed lego sections. Now called The Hungry Troll, the restaurant will still serve fish and chips.

During the closed season, the Flight of the Sky Lion building has been completed and the queue line for the ride has been built next to the building. Some items of theming have also been added to the side of the building visible from Mias Riding Adventure, three windows with some graphics have been added.

Other changes around the site also include a large tentacle Lego Model, a small entrance feature/portal near the hotels, the facade for Creature Encounter has been built and the sign is completed.

We can't wait for the construction walls to come down and for everything to be visible and to be able to walk around the new area. Everything looks amazing and we can't wait to ride the first flying theatre in the UK!

Every time a child takes care building a LEGO® creature, no matter how big or small, unbeknown to them that creature comes to life in a parallel world. A portal to that world has just been discovered at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort…

The incredible world of LEGO® MYTHICA is a parallel universe to ours, where LEGO creatures come to life. Full of epic adventures, powerful guardians and mysterious creatures all waiting to be discovered. The first and only theme park land of its kind anywhere on earth.

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has revealed the full details of its new multi-million-pound themed land, which will be home to the UK’s first Flying Theatre ride when it opens on 29th May 2021.

Standing at over 25 metres tall, the new Flight of the Sky Lion ride will be at the heart of LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures, the hotly anticipated new land which marks the park’s single biggest investment since the gates opened 25 years ago.

Once aboard the new Flying Theatre ride, families will be taken under the Sky Lion’s wing and transported to the parallel universe of LEGO MYTHICA, where mythical LEGO creatures come to life. As they swoop, duck and dive over the incredible landscape, families will come face-to-face with the realm’s many characters, including the two-headed Hydra (Duo), Fire and Ice Bird (Crystal Flame) and the Greek mythology inspired Chimera creature.

As part of the announcement, the park has released an artist’s impression showing the other new rides and attractions that feature in the land. Standing at 13 metres tall, the equivalent of 325 LEGO Minifigures, are two drop towers named Fire and Ice Freefall, and prepare to get wet on Hydra’s Challenge as guests steer their own vessel on this thrilling water attraction.

Also set to feature in the new land will be Creature Creation where guests can build their very own LEGO MYTHICA creatures; an adventure play area called Lava Dragon Play; the Creature Encounter character meet and greet experience, and The Hungry Troll restaurant and Beastly Bites snack bar.

The park’s existing 4D Cinema will feature a new and exclusive LEGO MYTHICA film which tells the story behind the mysteries of the parallel universe.

Not to be missed will be the 13 mythical creatures made from more than 1.7 million LEGO bricks by a team of 15 master builders over the course of 8,649 hours, almost a full year of building. Adorning the Flying Theatre building will be the breath-taking model of the Sky Lion, Maximus, made of 685,530 LEGO bricks, weighing more than 5,819 kilogrammes. Using the park’s new augmented reality technology, guests will be able to see all the mythical LEGO creatures come to life before their very eyes using the LEGOLAND App.

Working in partnership with Kids Industries, the LEGOLAND Windsor team behind the new land spent a year discussing and testing ideas and concepts with seven to 11-year olds and their parents who influenced the final ride experiences, names and characters.

Helen Bull, Divisional Director at LEGOLAND Windsor:

“We’re thrilled to be bringing the first Flying Theatre ride to the UK and today revealing all the rides and attractions which will make LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures a must-do experience for families in 2021.

The whole country has never needed escapism more than they do right now and we’ve worked closely with children and their families to make sure our new land delivers the thrills for everyone, whether it’s their 25th visit to LEGOLAND Windsor or their very first. Subject to Government guidelines, we’re planning to open LEGO MYTHICA on Saturday 29 May and tickets are on sale now to experience the country’s first Flying Theatre as well as everything else the Park has to offer.”

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Unveils First Mythical Creature

Saturday 23rd January 2021
LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort has revealed the first mystifying mythical creature, made from 109,522 LEGO® bricks, which is set to feature in its new multi-million-pound land – LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures.

In a new time-lapse video, viewers get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Chimera creature coming to life. Inspired by Greek mythology, the Chimera features four different heads – a shark, snake, eagle and lion – and weighs a whopping 334kg and took 12 talented Model Makers 653 hours to build.

The Chimera is the first of 13 new giant LEGO mythical models being created in LEGO’s master workshop and gives a glimpse into what guests can expect when they enter the parallel universe of LEGO MYTHICA, due to open in spring 2021.

Marianne McGoldrick, Marketing Director at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, said: “It’s been an amazing experience to watch the team build such a diverse set of large-scale LEGO models which have been inspired by the imaginations of children. Each mythical character is so unique and like nothing else we’ve ever featured at LEGOLAND Windsor before.

“It takes our model makers many hours to intricately turn thousands of different sized and coloured LEGO bricks into these incredible models and we can’t wait for families to meet the Chimera and learn more about its role in the story of LEGO MYTHICA when the land opens later this year.”

Expected to open in spring 2021, LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures marks the Resort’s single biggest investment since the gates opened 25 years ago and will feature thrilling new attractions and experiences, including a never-before-seen UK ride.

Working in partnership with Kids Industries, the LEGOLAND Windsor team behind the new land spent a year discussing and testing ideas and concepts with 7 to 11-year-olds and their parents, who influenced everything from the final ride experiences, names and characters.

The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is also offering children aged between 2 – 16 years the chance to design the 14th LEGO MYTHICA model to be installed in the new land later this year. To enter the competition, kids should submit a photo of their LEGO creation or drawing of their model to the ‘Create a Creature’ competition page on the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort website. LEGO MYTHICA December 2020 Construction Update

Friday 4th December 2020
Work on the new area at Legoland Windsor Resort, LEGO MYTHICA is fully underway. And since our last visit to the park, huge changes have happened!

The building that contains the flying theatre is now watertight and has the brand colours of LEGO MYTHICA. It appears that the building will no longer be fully themed and will just have some sections on the front. The only sides of the building seen are the front and back, the sides can only be seen when on Mias Riding adventure and on your drive into the park. On the front of the flying theatre building, 4 holes can be seen for what we think is a mount for the rides signage.

A large Dragon themed slide has been installed in what we think will become a brand new play area. Towering over everything else in the area, it looks amazing and we cant wait to see what other items of equipment are installed.

Work on building a new entrance portal into the area has also begun! A giant curved structure has started to be installed near the entrance to the area by heart lake city. This structure appears to have some segments that include lego and others that don't. It looks like it could be a hybrid of both themed concrete and Lego. Work is also being done to retheme the old fish and chips shop. The outside of the building has been coated in concrete and is having some cool signs engraved into it.

At the old Squid Surfer site, new queue line fences have been installed and the scaffolding around the rides rock work has been taken down. The rides theming now looks very spooky and grey.

New structures are being built around the site, for what we think will become some photo booths or new game stands. No sign of the two new drop towers yet, however, we think these will arrive quite soon!

LEGO Mythica Coming To Legoland Windsor Spring 2021

Friday 30th October 2020
LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has today revealed it will open a multi-million-pound new land where mythical LEGO creatures come to life. Opening in spring 2021, LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures will feature thrilling new attractions and experiences, including a never-before-seen UK ride.

Created for kids by kids, the parallel universe of LEGO MYTHICA marks the Resort’s single biggest investment since the gates opened 25 years ago and will see children’s imaginations and creativity run wild as mythical LEGO creatures come to life in front of their very eyes.

Unveiling the name in a video shared across LEGOLAND Windsor’s social media channels, the latest tease reveals a mythical portal to another world opening for the first time. In a hint to the creatures that families may find in this parallel universe, huge footprints shake the Resort, a winged shadow flies overhead and the 30 second film ends with an ice storm engulfing LEGOLAND Windsor’s iconic entrance.

Working in partnership with Kids Industries, the LEGOLAND Windsor team behind the new land spent a year discussing and testing ideas and concepts with seven to 11-year olds and their parents who influenced everything from the final ride experiences, names and characters.

“What better way to celebrate our 25th birthday than by unveiling a completely unique experience like nothing else we have launched at the Resort since we opened. At the heart of LEGO MYTHICA: World of Mythical Creatures will be epic rides, including a UK first, and breath-taking mythical creatures designed to capture children’s imaginations and inspire them to build and play. Our new land has been two years in the making and co-created with families to make sure it delivers what children and their parents want from a theme park in 2021. We can’t wait to share more details soon.”

THOMAS JELLUM, DIVISIONAL DIRECTOR AT THE LEGOLAND WINDSOR RESORT

LEGO MYTHICA World of Mythical Creatures is currently under construction at the Resort and is set to open in spring 2021. The new land will be found between Heartlake City and the Resort’s LEGO-themed Hotels.

Legoland Windsor 2021 New Area Theme Teased

Monday 19th October 2020
A new world is coming to Legoland Windsor in 2021!

The first teaser relating to the new area has been released on the parks social media channels with a link to a new page on the park's website.

Our first thoughts are that the logo looks like it could be related to Lego Chima or if not an expansion of Lego Ninjago.

http://legoland.co.uk/2021/

In the terms and conditions for the competiton, it states this new world will not be open until at least Spring 2021.

Please note that the new world will not be available for LEGOLAND at Christmas or Brick Week 2021.

A new ticket offer is also being advertised.

VISIT THIS YEAR AND GET AN EXTRA TICKET TO COME BACK IN 2021!

Flying Theatre Construction Almost Complete

Monday 21st September 2020
Work on building the flying theatre at Legoland Windsor has progressed rapidly since our last visit to the park, just over a month ago. When we last saw the building, only a small section had been built. A few weeks later and now the building is almost complete! No ride can be seen inside the building yet, however, we can now see all 3 floors of the flying theatre. Stairs to each level in the building can be seen under construction. With it being just one side, we expect the next stage will be installing the metal framework for the curved screen.

By Pizza and Pasta, fresh foundations have been poured for a new building for the area. Nothing can be seen for the new two mini drop towers, other than the foundations seen in photos number 20-22.

The path connecting Heartlake City and the hotels via Adventure Land have now closed with all access to the hotels now routed via The Haunted House and Lego City Deep Sea Adventure.

Posters can be seen around the construction site advertising "SOMETHING BIG IS COMING IN 2021!"
