Rattlesnake joined the park in the 1998 season and was the parks third rollercoaster to come to the park (after Runaway Train & Vampire). The ride is themed around a Mexican mine and was built into the Wild West area of the park however, given the rides theme the area was converted from the "Calamity Canyon" area to "Mexicana" which is still what the area is today.

The ride is dug down into the ground which was due to planning restrictions in the local area and the rides area features lots of Mexican theming and animatronics.

The ride was rethemed in 2013 where most of the original animatronics and original theming were replaced and the station was repainted.
