Alton Towers Reveals Plans To Re Track Nemesis Rollercoaster

Alton Towers
Monday 24th January 2022

Following on from Friday's planning application submittal pertaining to the lawfulness of maintenance works to the 'Nemesis' ride, further, documentation has been uploaded, showing off changes suggested and more information into the work that will be involved.

In the proposed works plan, it is shown that all of the track layout will be replaced with the exception of the brake run, station, and lift hill. As well as that, several foundations will be strengthened or even having additional foundations added. There will be no changes to any other part of the ride, apart from minor theming restorations.

In terms of the track itself, there is mention of the track pieces being filled with sand to create less noise around the area.

Key Facts:

  • 89 of the 117 supports will be replaced

  • Removal of 636 bolts, which will be replaced and re-grouted

  • Minor maintenance to the theming and buildings, as required

It is currently unknown when these changes were planned to happen, should they get approved but we expect to see Nemesis closed over a prolonged period of time. There is a date on one of the architectural drawings of 01/12/2022 so potentially we could see work begin then.
