Alton Towers Summer Of Fun

Alton Towers
Sunday 23rd July 2023

It's a new day and a new event at Alton Towers!

Summer of Fun is an unadvertised and non marketed event at Alton Towers, you'd be surprised walking down Towers Street to the abundance of performers when you find yourself in the middle of a big street party! With the Alton Towers Traffic Patrol and Performers dressed in vivid summer clothing with rubber rings on you'd be hard pressed to find yourself in a more festive summer atmosphere!

Summer of fun appears to be a one off trial event attempting to give a bit of summer flair to the resort. However we found a lot of the stalls unopened at our time of arrival (11AM) which was quite strange given how moderately busy it was at the park!

A street show is performed from 10-12 in the morning however we didn't find anything extremely interesting about this "show" however it's never a complaint to see a lot of roaming entertainments around Towers Street!

On the Lawns there is a new Double Deckerbar which serves a good selection of Alcoholic & Soft Drinks as well as bar snacks, A Pimms Van serving draught pours of the delectable summer beverage and finally a Cornish Pasty Van serving, you guessed it; Cornish Pasties as well as other delights like Sausage Rolls & Jacket Potatoes, one of our reviewers loved the fact that there's a healthier option for guests! The food is reasonably priced when you place it against the Aramark offerings across the resort now.

There is a proper show on the Lawns at multiple times throughout the day at 12:00, 13:45, 15:30 & 17:15.
We watched the 13:45 show and found it to be a good mix of summer vibe tunes with a fun twist that Alton Bear is back as a Superstar DJ! It's always great to see Alton Bear around the resort as long time fans of the park, It's great to see Alton Towers investing in their history, however we're surprised that Alton Bear has been gone this long and haven't heard much about his DJ Passion before!

The show is fun, quirky and a little bit out there with some interesting performances, though our two reviewers did think the show to be more suited to somewhere like Thorpe Park, if it weren't for the inclusion of Alton Bear, the show would easily be swapped to that resort with no theme change!

Aside from this and the Towers Street decoration, there's little else to suggest that there's an event even happening at Alton Towers right now! However we do suggest coming down and seeing what's on offer as it's always great to enjoy the resort in the sunshine with a beverage and a tasty bit of street food!
