Last Hyperia Construction Update For 2023

Thorpe Park
Saturday 23rd December 2023

It's our last update of 2023 for Hyperia and it's been a huge year for Thorpe Park! Old Town is gone and in its place, the UK's tallest and fastest rollercoaster is being built! Over the past few months, we've been documenting the construction of Hypera previously known as Project Exodus. We've been lucky enough to watch supports and track fly into place, and go into the park during the closed season but for now we end this year's updates from Monks Walk.

So... what's changed?

Another tower is being built in the middle of the area for the connecting sections of the track for the loop and inversion. With the site now shut for Christmas nothing will happen for the next few weeks. But when the site starts up again, it won't be long until we see this loop and inversion completed and the lift hill and first drop are installed.

The most major change in the area is the old Mexican Cantina / Shop / green room for Creek Freek is now gone. The park teased the old building being removed on their socials last night but we can confirm the building is now gone! The only part of the building left is the ruble that remains on the ground. A new exit shop and photo unit will be built in its place over the next few weeks.

At the station and maintenance building. The station has had more panels installed enclosing it even more, scaffolding can be seen in the station and metal clips for safety nets can be seen below the station waiting to be installed when the ride is more complete. Inside the maintenance shed, supports for the track have been installed and wheels to move the train in and out of the shed can be seen.

Where the old train shed once stood it looks like Thorpe Park is building something new in its place. A new wooden fence is being built in the area. The plans don't show anything being built here, could this be a location for a new Fright Nights attraction?

Looking across the lake the skyline of the park is changing at a rapid pace, we can't wait to see what this ride will look like when it's complete!

Hyperia see you in 2024!
